Hunting Elk, Awapara Ram, Goats & Small Game

Elk (or Wapiti) grow to 450kg and are the largest big game animal hunted in New Zealand. The hunting season runs from February to August. The rut which is March - April aligns also with that of the Red Stag, Fallow Deer and Sika Stags so Elk is often combined with these species in our hunting tours.

Arapawa Ram have very impressive double curled horns stretching to 1m in lnegth, making them a unique trophy. Arapawa have a light build combined with their long legs means they are active and mobile thriving in steep hill country. They can be hunted year round.

Alpine Goats can be found throughout New Zealand. Adult males weight on average 40kg, females 30kg; both possess horns. Alpine Goats can be hunted year round.

Duck shooting season runs from May - July with some regions having slightly shorter seasons than others. A license is required to hunt ducks with whoel season or day options available.
