Hunting Fallow Deer in New Zealand

Fallow Deer were among the first deer to be introduced to New Zealand and can be found in both North and South Islands. Males (Bucks) grow to 60-85kg in weight. Only Bucks develop antlers which they cast each year between October and November. The replacement set they develop by the following February. The rut lasts from April - May which typically sees small groups of Bucks and Does come together rather than individual males herding a harem.
